CRICKET RETURNS TO MARLBOROUGH

09 Jul 2020

The ECB have released official playing conditions that will allow cricket matches to be played between teams of 11 for the first time this year...and Marlborough CC have wasted no time in getting their first fixtures in the diary:

Saturday 11th July
1st XI (A) vs Gt. Bedwyn
2nd XI (A) vs Avebury

Sunday 12th July
3rd XI (A) vs Welford Park

Saturday 18th July
1st XI (H) vs Biddestone
2nd XI (A) vs Chippenham
3rd XI (Minal) vs Boxford Boars

Because of the large number of players currently available, preparations are even underway to find 4th XI fixtures! So if you were not included in any of the teams for this weekend, please stay patient as we try to organise these extra fixtures.

Ben Head (Marlborough's new 1st XI captain for 2020) said:
"We are aware that we could not accommodate all players this week but will be trying to provide further playing opportunities for everyone next week"

The committee would like to thank all players for their patience over the lockdown period, and it is hoped that both competitive and friendly cricket will now be offered beyond the traditional end of the season and into September. As a sign of their gratitude, t
he committee have backed a proposal to keep this year's membership fees to just £10. Match fees will remain as previously advertised but players are reminded that they must be a fully paid-up member to represent Marlborough Cricket Club on the field. Please contact Martin Smithers for details of how to pay.
